Matilda joined Fenland SOIL in September 2025, bringing a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and practical habitat management experience from her time with the Wildlife Trust. Inspired by the need for landscape scale change, she began her sustainable agriculture journey with Albanwise Environment, where she developed a strong knowledge of agri-environment schemes and an interest in sustainable land use.
At Fenland SOIL, Matilda leads the Lowland Agricultural Peat Water Discovery Pilot, overseeing the surveying and mapping of agricultural land in the Fens to build a detailed understanding of the mosaic of soil types and their links to greenhouse gas emissions. This data will guide smarter decisions for farming, conservation, and climate action in the Fens.
